- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add potatoes and cook until tender but still firm, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash. Mix in butter, finely chopped onion and 1/4 cup shredded cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste; set aside.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add carrots and cook until tender but still firm, about 15 minutes. Drain, mash and set aside. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C.)
- Heat oil in a large frying pan. Add onion and cook until clear. Add ground beef and cook until well browned. Pour off excess fat, then stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Add ketchup and beef broth. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Spread the ground beef in an even layer on the bottom of a 2 quart casserole dish. Next, spread a layer of mashed carrots. Top with the mashed potato mixture and sprinkle with remaining shredded cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

- Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Bring a pan of salted water to the boil and cook the potato slices for 3 mins. Drain and cool.
- Butter a shallow ovenproof dish and spread over the garlic. Layer the potatoes, leeks and cheese, season well, then pour over the cream. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hr.
- Remove the foil and continue cooking for 20 mins or until the top is browned and the potatoes are cooked through. Leave to stand for 5 mins before serving.

- Heat oven to 400°F. Grease 9-inch pie plate. Mix vegetables, 1 cup of the cheese and the onion in pie plate.
- Stir remaining ingredients except cheese in medium bowl, using fork, until blended. Pour into pie plate.
- Bake uncovered about 35 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake 1 to 2 minutes longer or just until cheese is melted.

- War your oven to 200C/Fan 180C/Gas 6. Peel and roughly chop the potatoes so they’re roughly the same size. Place in a large pan and cover with cold water.
- Meanwhile, pop a separate large pan onto a medium-high heat and pour in 1 tbsp oil. Crumble the veal mince into the pan and add a generous pinch of salt and pepper.
- While the veal is cooking, peel and finely chop the onions, carrot and garlic cloves. Trim the ends off the celery and finely dice it. Pick the thyme leaves.
- Pour the chopped tomatoes into the pan with the mince. Crumble in the stock cube and add 1 tbsp Worcester sauce. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer.
- When the potatoes are tender, drain them through a sieve and allow to steam dry for 1-2 mins. Tip the potatoes back into the pan and add half of the grated cheese and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Scoop the mince and sauce into an ovenproof dish or casserole. Spoon over the mash and use a fork to even it out. Sprinkle over the remaining cheddar.
