Golden Buttermilk Puff Doughnuts image

Steps:

  • Heat a deep-fryer to 374 degrees.
  • In a bowl, combine flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg.
  • In another small bowl, combine/whisk together 1/4 cup oil, buttermilk and the egg; mix well to combine, add to flour mixture, and mix until very well combined with a wooden spoon.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls into 6 cups hot oil (375 degrees); fry about 1-1/2 - 2 minutes, or until very light golden brown.
  • Remove, and drain on paper towel.
  • Roll in 1/2 cup sugar, mixed with cinnamon.
  • Note: It is impotant to keep the oil temperature at a steady 375 degrees, otherwise the doughnuts will be overdone, and won't have a light texture.

Steps:

  • 1. mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and nutmeg. add the oil, milk, and egg. stir until well mixed. drop by tsp full into hot oil. deep fry about 3 minutes. app temp 375 of the oil. you can tell by the brownness of the donuts. make small so they will not be doughy in the middle. take out drain on paper towels. roll in powdered sugar or cinn sugar. will make app 30 to 36 donut holes.

2 c flour

3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 c oil
3/4 c milk or 1/2 1/2
1 egg
1 tsp nutmeg
powdered sugar for rolling donuts

Golden Puffs (Fried Cake Doughnuts) image

Steps:

  • 1. Combine all ingredients and mix with a fork until combined. Variation: If adding grated apples to the mixture do so at the end and fold in.
  • 2. Drop by teaspoonfuls into hot oil. Turn when underside is brown and finish cooking. Remove from oil and drain on paper towel. Roll in cinnamon sugar mixture to coat while still warm. Serve warm and delicious. Can be stored in an airtight container if you have any left.

2 c flour

3 tsp baking power (if you using double acting baking powder use half the amount.)

Easy Doughnut Puffs image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a mini muffin tin with cooking spray or line with paper cups.
  • Place flour, sugar, milk, vegetable oil, egg, baking powder, salt, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon in a bowl. Mix dough by hand until well combined but some lumps remain. Fill muffin tin with dough.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until tops spring back when lightly pressed, but color is not yet golden brown, about 15 minutes.
  • Pour melted butter into a bowl. Mix 1/3 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon nutmeg together in a separate bowl. Dip muffins in the butter coating; immediately roll in the cinnamon dusting.

  • drop by tsp fulls into hot oil (375 degrees F). (too much dough and it will not cook all the way through).
