HOUIDINI BARS
Now you see them, now you don't! I can't recall where I got this recipe from however, the individual did adapt it from the Cake Mix Doctor Returns. I haven't tried this recipe due to my dietary restrictions, BUT I have made this recipe and have quized all who have consumed these as to their opinions. Everyone loved these!! I hope you do as well :)

Steps:
- Position your oven rack so that it is in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease a 13x9 pan, and put to the side.
- Place the cake mix, butter, and one egg in a large mixing bowl and beat on low speed with an electric mixer until the ingredient are incorporated, about 1 minute.
- Press the batter into the bottom and partially up the sides of the greased 13x 9 baking pan (use your hands), put the pan to the side once this is done.
- Place the cream cheese in the same mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer on low speed until fluffy, 30 seconds.
- Add the remaining 2 eggs, vanilla, and confectioners' sugar and beat on low speed until smooth and combined, about 1 minute.
- Fold in coconut; pour mixture over the crust and smooth the top with a spatula. Scatter the nuts over the top.
- Bake the bars until the edges are light brown and the center is firm to the touch, about 40-50 minutes. Transfer the baking pan to a wire rack and let cool for 30 minutes before cutting and serving (do not score the bars while still hot).
- *These bar will keep in the fridge for up to five days.

BASIC BISCOTTI RECIPE
This is my fav biscotti recipe. You can cook it as is or toss in dried fruit or nuts or chocolate or add flavorings. I can't recall for the life of me where I got it, but I've been making it for a few years now and love it. For Christmas I tossed some dried cranberry's and for a sweet coffee treat I dip the bottom half in melted chocolate.

Steps:
- Cream together oil and sugar; beat in eggs and then vanilla. Add sifted flour and remaining dry ingredients and mix well.
- Fold in fruits or nuts or other ingredients if you are adding any.
- Flour your hands so the dough doesn't stick to you and form 2 loaves or "flat logs" on a cookie sheet making them the width of cookie you want.
- Bake the loaves at 375 deg. F for 15 minutes then lower temperature to 300 deg. F and bake for 30 minutes. When the loaves are nicely browned on the outside, take them out of the oven.
- Using a bread knife, slice loaves into individual cookies about 1/2 to 3/4" thick. Place freshly cut biscotti on the cookiesheet on their side and put back into the oven for 5 minutes on each side to crisp up.
- Yummy treat.

HOUDINI BURGERS
Serve these to your guests and watch them disappear! This recipe was created by the Hot Plate Houdinis for Zaar World Tour III. The challenge was to create a burger representative of one of the regions of the United States. Since Houdini was from the Midwest, we developed this burger, which celebrates the barbecue styles of Missouri, both St. Louis and Kansas City.

Steps:
- Prepare slaw dressing by whisking together vinegar, oil, sugar, salt, and celery seeds.
- Combine dressing with cabbage and onion and mix well.
- Combine barbecue sauce with a splash of beer. Enjoy the rest of your beer while you cook.
- Divide beef into four patties. Season to taste with KC Masterpiece BBQ seasoning.
- Grill burgers to desired doneness.
- To assemble, place each burger on the bottom half of a bun. Top with cheese, if using, barbecue sauce mixture, bacon, and coleslaw mixture. Add top half of the bun.
- Enjoy!

SWEET POTATO VICHYSSOISE
I got this recipe from a cookbook I can't recall the name of, but since I love vichyssoise, I tried this recipe, and it is fabulous. I make it when the weather turns warm and serve it cold.

Steps:
- Saute the leeks in the butter.
- Add stock, wine, and potatoes and heat to a boil.
- Turn down the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Stir in zest, lime juice, milk, and cream.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Puree in small batches.
- Refrigerate for 4-6 hours.
- Serve and garnish with chopped chives.

CROSTOLI - KNOT COOKIES
Can't recall where I got this recipe, I have been making them for about 20 years. They are a fried cookie,lite and crisp. I use a deep fry pan for this. They add a different texture to the cookie tray at Holiday time. Also the almond - orange extract is delightful too.

Steps:
- In a small mixing bowl cut butter into flour till it resembles small peas.
- Combine eggs, sugar, almond& orange extracts and salt.
- Stir into flour mixture.
- Turn onto a floured board,knead until smooth.
- Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Divide dough into 2 equal parts.
- Roll each half into a 12X6 in rectangle.
- Cut into 6X3/4 inch strips.
- Carefully tie strips into knots.
- Fry a few at a time in deep fat (oil).
- (375 degrees) till golden brown (3minutes) flip once.
- Drain well.
- Cool and dust with powdered sugar.
