Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Arrange slices in the bottom of a lightly greased 12x9 pan.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Mix flour and brown sugar.
  • Cut in butter until crumbly and set aside.
  • Syrup: Combine ingredients and stir well.
  • Drizzle half of mixture over apples.
  • Cover with flour mix.
  • Pour remaining syrup over top.
  • Bake at 350 for one hour.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Grease four 6 oz ramekins (butter, shortening, or Pam) and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  • Melt butter, then mix with cubed bread.
  • Mix lemon juice. brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, then mix with sliced apples.
  • Press 1/8th of bread mixture into bottom of each ramekin, cover with 1/8th of apple mixture, repeat. Pour any leftover liquid over top. (bread, apples, bread, apples in each ramekin).
  • Place ramekins on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 40-50 minutes.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Generously butter a 9-by-13-inch rectangular baking dish.
  • Place half the diced bread in the baking dish, and then sprinkle on half the diced apples, half the brown sugar and half the butter. Repeat with another layer of bread, apples, brown sugar and butter. End by sprinkling 1/2 cup water all over the surface, a spoonful at a time.
  • Bake, covered in foil, until the apples are tender, about 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes to brown.

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Peel, core and slice apples. Place the bread slices in a food processor and blend to make fresh crumbs or finely chop it up. Rub a 1-quart baking dish thickly with butter then sprinkle liberally with brown sugar. Add alternating layers of sliced apples, sugar, and bread crumbs, then repeat, ending with bread crumbs.   • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Combine apples, apple cider, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender but not mushy, about 10 minutes. Stir in 1 tablespoon butter until melted, remove from heat and transfer apple mixture to a 9-inch glass pie plate.
  • Place bread in food processor and process until crumbs are formed, about 15 seconds. Melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter in microwave for 20 seconds. Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F with a rack in the center of the oven.
  • Place the apples on a flat surface, cut them in half, and then into thin slices. Put them in a medium bowl and coat them with a light layer of zest from 1 of the lemons and all of the lemon juice.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the butter and bread crumbs. Season with salt. Set aside.
  • In a third bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and cloves. Mix to blend and add the apple slices.
  • Grease each baking dish with the remaining butter. Layer the bottom with the apples and cover with the bread crumb mixture.
  • Cover the dishes tightly with aluminum foil and place in the center of the oven. Bake until the apples are tender when pierced with the tip of a knife, 30 to 45 minutes. Remove the foil, raise the oven temperature to 425 degrees F and bake until the top browns. Serve immediately.

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, heat on low the apple juice, golden syrup and sultanas. Simmer for 15 minutes with the lid on and for 10 minutes with the lid off.
  • Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees celsius.
  • Meanwhile, Cut the crust off of the bread and add to a mixer along with the two biscuits and cinnamon. Mix until a mixture of small breadcrumbs forms. Set aside.
  • Peel apples and grate them. Squeeze out excess juice. Set aside in a bowl.
  • To the bowl of grated apples add the sultanas and two tablespoons of the apple syrup.
  • Butter the bottoms and sides of four 6oz ramekins . Sprinke with brown sugar. Place a layer of apple on the bottom followed by a layer of breadcrumbs. Dot with butter and sprinkle with brown sugar. Place another layer of apple on top followed by the final layer of breadcrumbs and a dusting of brown sugar. (note: you may have to push down layers to fit all of ingredients).
  • Pour two tablespoons of the apple syrup over the top of the Brown Bettys and place in the oven for 15 minutes covered with foil, and then 15 minutes uncovered.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice-cream or cream.

  • Pre-heat oven to 180*C/375*F. Butter a shallow 1 ½ litre baking dish.
  • Place half the bread cubes in the prepared baking dish. Mix the remaining cubes with 2 TBS of melted butter and set aside.
