Steps:

  • Cut the onions in half, and then slice them into 1/8-inch-thick half-rounds. (You will have about 10 cups of onions.)
  • Heat the olive oil in a large saute pan over medium heat. Add the onions and saute for 15 to 20 minutes. Add the peppers, garlic, vinegar, tomato puree, pepper flakes, salt and pepper and continue cooking an additional 10 minutes.

6 large yellow onions
1/4 cup olive oil
2 red bell peppers, julienned
2 yellow bell peppers, julienned
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup sherry vinegar
1 tablespoon tomato puree
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Whisk 2 cups flour with 1 tablespoon baking powder and 1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt in a large bowl. Pulse 2 cups chopped spring onions and 1 cup sour cream in a food processor until almost pureed. Mix into the flour mixture with a fork to form a shaggy dough. Pat into a round on a floured surface. Cut into eighths. Brush with sour cream. Bake on a baking sheet in a 425 degrees F oven until golden, 18 to 22 minutes.

  • Preheat oven to 450°. In a large bowl, whisk the first 5 ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in ham and green onions. Add milk; stir just until moistened., Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 8-10 times. Pat or roll dough to 1/2-in. thickness; cut with a floured 2-1/2-in. biscuit cutter. Place 2 in. apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Lightly grease a baking sheet or line with baking parchment.
  • Mix onions, sugar, egg, vegetable oil, and warm water in a large bowl with an electric mixer until well combined.
  • Mix the baking powder, salt, pepper, and poppy seeds into the onion mixture.
  • Beat the flour into the onion mixture in batches with the mixer set to Low speed until incorporated into a dough.
  • Drop dough by the tablespoon onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown on top, 20 to 30 minutes.

Steps:

  • Position rack in center of oven and preheat to 425°F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine buttermilk and green onions in medium bowl.
