My friends demand that I bring this version of hash brown casserole to every potluck! Make sure to use McCain® Tasti Taters instead of regular hash browns!

Steps:

Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a large casserole dish.
Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat; cook the onion in the hot oil until softened, 5 to 7 minutes. Mix the cooked onions, tater tots, mushroom soup, sour cream, butter, pepper, and salt together in a large bowl until the tater tots are evenly coated. Stir the Cheddar cheese in a little bit at a time until evenly distributed throughout the mixture; pour into the prepared dish. Sprinkle the potato chips over the top.
Bake until golden brown on top, 45 to 60 minutes.

1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
8 ounces sour cream
1 cup melted butter
1 ½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
salt to taste
1 (7 ounce) bag sour cream-and-onion-flavored potato chips, crushed

TATER TOT SIDE DISH

This is sort of a variation on the twice baked potatoe. You can use any shredded cheese, I like a cheddar blend, but taco cheese or monterey jack works well also. Use more or less cheese/bacon, according to your family's taste. Turkey bacon works too.

Steps:

Cook tots in oven as directed. Don't turn off oven.
Take off cookie sheet and place in a casserole dish. Sprinkle cheese on top of tots. Crumble bacon on top of cheese.
Place uncovered back into preheated oven 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is nicely melted. Sprinkle chives over the top. Serve with sour cream on the side for dipping, also ketchup works well for the kids.

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large skillet cook ground beef with onion, salt and pepper; drain and spread into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Add tater tots; mix cream of mushroom and cream of celery soup together and pour mixture over dish. Top with onion rings, if using.
Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour.

Cook bacon in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until crispy on both sides, about 10 minutes. Place on a paper towel-lined plate and set aside, keeping the bacon grease in the skillet.
Reduce the heat to medium and add tater tots to the skillet. Season with garlic salt and toss until evenly coated in the grease and seasoning. Cook until the outsides are crisp, about 10 minutes, turning carefully with a spatula once or twice. Remove the skillet from heat.
Carefully remove 1/2 of the tater tots from the skillet and spread out remaining tots in a single layer. Top with 1/2 of the Cheddar cheese. Place remaining tots on top of the cheese and top with remaining cheese.
