Very tropical and refreshing. I had a bottle of rum and some blue curacao for a BBQ. I just used the juices I picked up at the "quickie-mart" and went to town. They're so good they'll "sneak" up on you ;)

- Fill pint or hurricane glass with ice.
- Add light rum, blue curacao, mango, lime and guava juice. Mix with a cocktail spoon. Add splash of pineapple and float the Myers rum on top.
- Garnish with wedge of orange, lime and a maraschino cherry. You can also add a chunk of fresh pineapple and a little cocktail umbrella if you're in the true tiki mood.

- Zombie. The Zombie is one of the most legendary Tiki cocktails. Together with the Navy Grog and the Mai Tai, it is the so-called Holy Trinity of Tiki. Its long list of ingredients includes different types of Rum, Pernod, pineapple and lime juice, syrups, and bitters.
- Navy Grog. The Navy Grog is one of the first cocktails in history, and was born out of necessity. Unlike most other Tiki cocktails, its list of ingredients is short: Rum, lime, water, and sugar syrup.
- Mai Tai. Mai Tai is the third pillar of the Holy Trinity of Tiki. Trader Vic is credited with the invention of this beautiful blend of two types of Rum, Curaçao, lime juice, and orgeat.
- Hurricane. The Hurricane cocktail is another fruit bomb with roots in New Orleans. It also lent its name to the famous Hurricane glass and contains three types of Rum, lime, orange, pineapple, passion fruit, sugar syrup, and grenadine.
- Dark n Stormy. Featuring ginger beer, the Dark n Stormy is a welcome diversion from fruity Tiki drinks. Apart from the spicy brew, the recipe calls for Rum, lime, syrup, and Angostura bitters.
- Rum Runner. The Rum Runner most likely was invented in a bar at Islamorada in the Florida Keys. It contains aged Rum, Giffard Banane du Brésil, Crème de Mûre, pineapple juice, lime juice, and grenadine.
- Bahama Mama. The Bahama Mama is a relatively well-balanced Tiki cocktail. Apart from the standard ingredients like Rum, pineapple, and lime, it calls for coconut and coffee liqueur.
- Piña Colada. A Piña Colada can be incredibly easy to make. But when you want to get it right, you need to put more effort into preparing the drink. The recipe for this iconic drink includes cream of coconut (not coconut cream), aged and unaged Rum, limes, and fresh pineapple.
- Painkiller. Basically, the Painkiller is a Piña Colada spiked with orange juice. It is a little easier to make, though. Get Recipe.
- Scorpion. The Scorpion includes Cognac, which you won't often find in Tiki drinks. Apart from 0.75 oz of the French quality brandy, the recipe calls for 1.5 oz Rum, 2 oz orange juice, 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 0.5 oz orgeat.

- Fresh lime juice is critical. When squeezing, don’t press too hard — extract the juice, not the bitter pith.
- The Mai Tai does not have pineapple juice in it. Or orange juice. Or any other juice besides lime. There is a recipe. It was handed down to us by Trader Vic.
- Historically, there is no "dark rum" float. It’s not in the original recipe. At the San Francisco Trader Vic’s in the 1970s, there was an old regular who liked his with a float of a 151 Demerara rum.
- Trader Vic’s does not use umbrellas. The Trader didn’t like them, and they were never in his Mai Tais.
- The Mai Tai is simply garnished with half of a spent lime shell and a fresh mint sprig, designed to look like a small island and palm tree on the surface of your drink: fragrant, attractive, and simple.
- This cocktail was born with 100-percent pot-still Jamaican rum that was aged a minimum of 17 years. Rich in both body and oak flavors, there’s no exact substitute today, but look for either 100-percent pot-still or blended pot and column molasses-based rums.
- The drink is not blended. It’s shaken until it’s fresh and frosty, then served with the same ice you shook with. That’s tradition in exotic cocktails, and you should embrace it.
- Crushed, freshly made ice is key. Not puffy pellet ice. Crushing good, cold, hard cubes just prior to service creates the mouthfeel, correct dilution, and chilling that the Trader desired.
- Serve in a wide mouth double rocks to really enjoy the bright fresh aromas. Feel that frosty glass in your hands. Drink in deeply and let the relaxation of the islands at twilight wash over you.
