TASTY GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- Fry bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat until crisp. Drain on paper towels, crumble, and set aside. Drain most of the bacon grease from the pan, and place over medium heat. Add the onions and bell pepper; cook and stir until tender. Stir in the wine, scraping all of the bits of bacon from the bottom of the pan.
- Mix in the butter, milk, soup, and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in the green beans and bacon until evenly coated. Fold in cheese, then transfer to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with French fried onions.
- Bake uncovered for 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until heated through, and sauce is bubbly.

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE FROM SCRATCH
No cans here! Fresh mushrooms, onion, and herbs with frozen green beans, sour cream, and cheddar cheese make this a delightfully tasty twist on the traditional casserole. I developed this recipe, longing for a 'no cans' version of the classic dish. I made this one year for my husband's family at Christmas time, and now they ask for it every year! My husband asks me to make it for dinner throughout the year.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Place green beans into a saucepan and fill with about 1/2 inch of water. Bring to a boil and steam until beans are tender but still bright green, about 5 minutes. Drain and toss with the mushrooms. Set aside.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and parsley; cook and stir until onion is tender. Whisk in flour until blended, then mix in the lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly, so that no lumps form and then stir in sour cream. Warm over medium heat until the sauce begins to bubble. Dump in the green beans and mushrooms, stirring to coat.
- Remove from the heat and toss briefly with some of the Cheddar cheese and French fried onions, saving some of each to sprinkle over the top. Spoon into a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish and top with the reserved onions and cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese melts, about 15 minutes.

- In a bowl, combine soup, milk, soy sauce and pepper. Gently stir in beans. Spoon half of the mixture into a 13x9-in. baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the onions. Spoon remaining bean mixture over the top. Sprinkle with remaining onions., Bake at 350° until heated through and onions are brown and crispy, 30-35 minutes.

GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE CUPS RECIPE BY TASTY
A new twist on your favorite holiday side dish! Simply pick up some store-bought crescent roll dough, and these cups come together in a flash. Don't forget to top them with French-fried onions for that signature crunch!

- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick spray.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Prepare an ice bath in a large bowl and set nearby.
- Add the green beans to the boiling water and cook for 4 minutes, until bright green and slightly tender. Drain the green beans, then transfer to the ice bath. Let cool, then drain and set aside.
- Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add the mushrooms, season with the salt and pepper, and cook for 5 minutes, until lightly browned. Add the garlic and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until fragrant. Add the flour and stir until the mushrooms are coated and the flour begins to toast, about 2 minutes.
- Add the vegetable broth and heavy cream and stir until fully combined. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, or until thickened.
- Add the blanched green beans and cheddar cheese and stir to combine. Remove the pan from the heat and let the green bean mixture cool slightly.
- On a lightly floured surface, unroll the crescent roll dough and pinch the seams together with your fingers. Roll out with a rolling pin into an even layer. Cut into 12 equal squares. Add each square of dough to a cup of the prepared muffin tin.
- Fill each crescent cup with 2 tablespoons of the green bean mixture and top with 1 tablespoon of French-fried onions.

- Preheat the oven to 400˚F (200˚C).
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, blanch the green beans for 3 minutes, until tender and bright green. Drain and transfer to a 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) baking dish.
- Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a large pan over high heat. Add the onions and cook for 8 minutes, until softened and translucent.
- Add the mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes, until browned. Add the garlic and cook just until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Transfer the vegetable mixture to the casserole dish with the green beans. Wipe out the pan.
- Melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter in the same pan. Add the flour and stir to combine. Cook until a golden brown roux forms, for 5 minutes.

ULTIMATE GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE
My Granny used to make this for every holiday, now my Mom does too! When I was younger I used to throw a fit if my Momma didn't make it! I get such a craving for this I could eat the whole pan. I like to think of this as more of an "Adult" version of the simple Campbell's and French's we're all used too. I sometimes like to add a dash of the paprika to the cream cheese soup mixture just for a little extra flavor. Enjoy!

- Cook green beans according to package directions; drain.
- Melt margarine in a Dutch oven over medium to medium low heat; add onion and cook until translucent.
- Add flour and stir to coat.
- Add soup and cream cheese. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until cream cheese is melted, add Cheddar cheese and stir until mixture is smooth and everything is melted.
- Remove from heat; stir in green beans, water chestnuts, garlic salt, and pepper.
- Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 2 quart casserole.

- Bring a large pot of water to a boil; add a big pinch of salt and the green beans. Cook for about 5 minutes, the beans should still be crisp, they will be cooked more in the oven. Drain them and set aside. Butter a baking dish large enough to hold the green beans with 1 tablespoon butter and set aside. Heat the oven to 375 degrees F. Tear the bread into 2-inch pieces, put them into a bowl, and add 1 tablespoon chives, 1 tablespoon thyme, 1 tablespoon rosemary, 2 tablespoons Parmesan, and 3 tablespoons olive oil. Stir well to coat and spread onto a baking sheet. Bake just until the bread just starts to turn golden, about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside. Meanwhile, melt the remaining butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and shallots, season with salt and pepper, and cook until the mushrooms have released their liquid, about 10 minutes. Pour in the heavy cream, add the remaining thyme and chives, and cook for another 5 minutes. Add the green beans and stir well. Put the green bean mixture into the prepared baking dish, top with the croutons, and sprinkle on the remaining Parmesan. Bake until everything is hot and bubbling, about 20 to 25 minutes.
