BACON AND BLUE BRUSSELS SPROUTS

My friend knows I hate Brussels sprouts. She gave me this recipe. These are fab!

Bacon and Blue Brussels Sprouts image

Steps:

  • Place the bacon in a large, deep skillet, and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Remove the bacon, but leave the drippings; blot the bacon slices on a paper towel-lined plate. Crumble when cool.
  • Stir the onion and salt into the hot fat over medium heat until tender, about 5 minutes. Pour in the water and Dijon mustard. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until the water comes to a boil. Scrape the pan to dissolve the brown bits in the water. Add the Brussels sprouts and vinegar. Cook, stirring often, until the Brussels sprouts are tender, 4 to 6 minutes. Toss with bacon and Gorgonzola cheese crumbles to serve.

This came from Simply Recipes and it snds good. You can find black bean garlic sauce in the Asian aisles of the grocery store. It is salty so you won't need to add any salt.

Steps:

  • Wash and trim the sprouts and quarter lengthwise.
  • Put the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the sprouts and cook for 3-5 minutes, until they start to brown. If they absorb all the oil, add a bit more.
  • Add the black bean garlic sauce and stir until the brussels sprouts are coated. Add a pinch of black pepper and cook for another 30 seconds or so. Serve immediately.

Steps:

  • Wash the brussels sprouts well. Trim the stems and discard any of the loose leaves. Quarter them lengthwise. 2 Place the oil and chili flakes into a large skillet and place over medium-high heat. Add the brussels sprouts to the pan and cook for about 3-5 minutes or until the sprouts begin to brown a bit. They may absorb all the oil, if they do just add another 1/2 tablespoon of oil. 3 Add the black bean garlic sauce and stir until all the brussels sprouts are well coated. Add a pinch of ground black pepper (the sauce is already salty so you probably won't need any salt). Cook for about 30 more seconds. Take off heat and serve immediately.

2 tablespoons of olive, grapeseed, or safflower oil
dash of chili pepper flakes
25 brussels sprouts
1 1/2 tablespoons of black bean garlic sauce
ground black pepper
