DUFF'S FLYING SAUCER SANDWICH
Steps:
- Slice the boule horizontally and lay the two halves on a cutting board cut-side up. Spread the mayonnaise and mustard evenly over the top half of the bread. Layer the bottom half evenly with the mortadella, folding the slices in half and shingling them in concentric circles. Repeat with the salami, pepperoni and provolone.
- Layer the pickles and lettuce on top of the provolone, then drizzle with olive oil and red wine vinegar. Season with salt and pepper, layer on the potato chips and top with the remaining half of the boule.
- Secure each egg half, cut-side facing out, to the top half of the boule with a toothpick, evenly spacing them out in a circle. Hang an olive ring on the exposed end of each toothpick. Slice the sandwich into 8 wedges and serve.
1952 CITY SCHOOL FLYING SAUCERS (RANGER COOKIES)
Recipe from Los Angeles Unified School District. Served in school cafeterias. After making these the first time, I think some dried cranberries would be good in them.

FLYING SAUCERS
This is just a silly kid recipe. My grandma used to make these for us. Of course, we gobbled them up! My kids liked them too. (So do I!)

- Prehat oven to 350 degrees.

- Cut cheese slices into about 1 inch squares and press into the sides of the mound of potatoes to look like windows.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or so until until heated through.
- You could use any other round lunch meat. My grandsons prefer deli salami or what they refer to as "greasy meat"!

A great giant "party cookie" or smaller everyday cookie. Try different types of M & M's or Reese's Pieces. A wonderful, chewy oaty-peanutty treat! (or omit candies for a "healthier" cookie!)
