- Heat 2 quarts of water over open fire to boiling in a 2 pound coffee can. Dump in coffee grounds and egg shells.Pour in the cold water to settle the grounds. Remove can from direct heat with pliers and let stand 10 minutes. My dad loved coffee made like this-
