EASY FOUR-LAYER CHOCOLATE DESSERT

Out of all the easy chocolate desserts I make, these nutty, chocolaty layered treats have become my family's favorite. I make sure to whip up my mom her very own batch, since she loves this chocolate delight so much! -Kristen Stecklein, Waukesha, Wisconsin

Easy Four-Layer Chocolate Dessert image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Place flour in a small bowl; cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in 1/2 cup walnuts. Press onto bottom of an ungreased 13x9-in. baking dish. Bake until light golden brown, 12-15 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack., In a small bowl, beat cream cheese and confectioners' sugar until smooth; fold in 1 carton whipped topping. Spread over crust. In a large bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Gently spread over cream cheese layer. Top with remaining whipped topping. Sprinkle with chocolate chunks and remaining walnuts. Refrigerate until cold., Cut into bars. Just before serving, drizzle with chocolate syrup.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cold butter
1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted, divided
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 cartons (8 ounces each) frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
2-1/2 cups 2% milk
2 packages (3.9 ounces each) instant chocolate pudding mix
1 cup semisweet chocolate chunks

CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE WALNUT BARS

This recipe has been changed from a basic cheesecake bar. I turned it into a chocolate cheesecake bar with a walnut crumb topping. The original recipe was taken from an old church cookbook from the 70s or 80s. They are full of chocolatey goodness. Give these bars a try. I'm sure you'll like them. Enjoy!

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the brown sugar,nuts,flour,and melted butter together until crumbly.
  • 2. Remove 3/4 cup of mixture and set aside for later.
  • 3. place the remainder of crumb mixture in to an 8 inch square pan.press firmly in the pan. Bake at 350 degree's for 12-15 minutes.
  • 4. beat the the cream cheese with the sugar. Add the egg,lemon juice,milk and vanilla. Mix together until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips.Pour this in to the crust.Top with the crumbs you set aside.
  • 5. bake at 350 for 25 min. Cool and cut in to squares. Keep refrigerated.

Chocolate-Cream Cheese-Peanut Butter Bars image

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Spray bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray. In large bowl, stir cookie base and topping ingredients until soft dough forms. Shape 6 (1-inch) balls of dough. On ungreased cookie sheet, place balls 2 inches apart; flatten in crisscross pattern with fork.
  • Press remaining dough in pan. Bake cookies and base 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 10 minutes. Reserve cookies for topping.
  • In small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips and butter uncovered on High 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and stirred smooth. Spread evenly over bars. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
  • In medium bowl, beat cream cheese, peanut butter, powdered sugar and whipping cream with electric mixer on low speed until blended. Beat on high speed about 2 minutes or until light and fluffy. Spread over chocolate layer.
  • Crush reserved cookies; sprinkle over cream cheese layer. Press in lightly. Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes. For bars, cut into 9 rows by 4 rows. Store covered in refrigerator.

  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in extract. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Press half the dough onto the bottom of a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Set aside remaining dough for topping., For filling, in a large saucepan, combine the chocolate chips, cream cheese and milk; cook and stir over low heat until smooth. Remove from the heat; stir in walnuts and extract. Spread over dough., Break off small pieces of remaining dough; drop over filling. Bake at 375° until topping is golden brown, 35-40 minutes. Steps:

  • 1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 3/4 cup butter and 1/3 cup of the chocolate chips. Stir until smooth. Stir in the graham cracker crumbs and peanuts. Press this into a buttered 9x13 pan Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes or until set.
  • 2. In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread this over the bottom layer Melt the remaining 2/3 cup of chocolate chips until smooth.
  • 3. Carefully spread this over the cream cheese layer. Cover and refrigerate until set. Cut into 24 squares and serve.

Steps:

  • Set oven to 375°.
  • Butter a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  • In a saucepan, combine chocolate pieces, cream cheese and evaporated milk; stir over low heat until smooth, then set aside.
  • Stir in chopped nuts In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter or margarine (if using), until light and fluffy, then blend in eggs and vanilla.
  • Mix together flour baking powder and salt, then add to the creamed mixture; mix well to combine.
  • Press half of the mixture into the bottom the prepared baking pan, then spread the chocolate mixture over crust.
  • Sprinkle with remaining crust mixture, then press down gently.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, or until crust is lightly browned.
  • Cool then cut into bars.
